Term 1 for the Berkeley MBA for Executives Class of 2014 came to an end in August, marking the first cohort in the newest Berkeley MBA program to complete a portion of their core curriculum. 68 EMBA students completed their studies in Economics (Wolfram), Statistics (Lablanc), and Accounting (Zhang), three important core courses on which other Terms build their foundation. Students also completed the course ‘Leadership Communications’ with Professor Mark Rittenberg at an off-site location.
Our Berkeley Executive MBA students attended their classes and participated in program-office related events, to include Wednesday Career Nights hosted by the Berkeley-Haas Career Management Group and Friday Lunchtime Speaker Series, with guest speakers ranging from Tom Kelley, General Manager at IDEO to Cal Athletics Director, Sandy Barbour.
The first term for the Executive MBAs wasn’t all reading, exams and SpeakerSeries—although that was an important part! The EMBA students tried hard—and succeeded—in reducing the stress of coming back to school by hosting many social events before, during and after their block sessions. Vice Presidents of Social, Taylor Truitt and Danny Lee made sure that their fellow students made time to relax and enjoy their time with one another at numerous dinners, and an epic end-of-term karaoke party.
