One of the toughest things has been the two Leadership Communication seminars that are on Sundays (for those of us who already have Saturday classes). We had our first session last Sunday, which meant that for all of the "Axe" cohort, we went through 5 days of work, 2 days of class, and straight back into 5 more days of work and another full class day (this coming Saturday).
That can be a little bit painful. However, I will say that the Leadership Communications class has been tons of fun. Not only do we get to do some real soft-skill exercising, by speaking publicly and critiquing our peers, but it also offered us a much more intimate setting to get to know the ins and outs of our classmates. Even a little more so than at the local bar, in my humble opinion. I'm looking forward to the next session, though I do miss the "sleep" (who doesn't?).
Otherwise, we're also working on Macroeconomics and Leadership. Though this half-semester is actually split into 1/4 semesters for Leadership. So, after two more weeks, we'll be taking an Ethics course. You can imagine the amount of juggling that goes on-- but it has really been exciting and almost energizing in some fashion.
Tonight was our first-round Welcome Reception of new Haas students (Class of 2012). It was a nice break to meet some new energetic folks, ready to roll through the grind of the first-year Haas MBA Arena. To all of you, congratulations once again and looking forward to seeing you on campus!
